| BIS:- As the Best in Show judge it was different for me, as well. I had the honour and pleasure of choosing from all the breeds and the NSC on both days by selecting two dogs to go forward to the Best in Show line up. As a side comment – what an ideal way to give hands on experience to new up and coming potential Best in Show judges. My two choices on the first day were the Boxer and the Shih Tzu. The Shih Tzu, Howard's Tameron Mr Kenzo What a grand animal this is. When one talks about the chrysanthemum head and expression. This dog fills the bill. He has superb pigmentation. He moves a dream and typically moves like this breed should and he just asked to be placed. My two choices on the second day were the Basenji and the Whippet
BPIS:- This was
judged in the same manner as the BIS. There’s lots to write about about
this show and there is lots to commend and I am sure that the show
reporters will have a field day! I was honoured to have been given the
task of judging Best In Show an this most historic occasion, and a
special moment in the day was cutting the cake with Rosie Smart! WOW! .
Frankly, I found the breed to be in a mess! Where has the oriental expression gone that should be so typical of this breed? I found so many down-nosed dogs, giving a totally alien expression. Fronts were a concern too. Many were much too narrow and I was barely able to get two fingers between the front legs. Deep chests seem to be a thing of the past and short, narrow ribcages were common. I am not a mouth fanatic but many dogs had missing incisors, which gave a narrow jaw and many were too undershot. Having said this, I did find some very typical dogs but they were in the minority. This should be a sturdy, robust breed. Many would have looked more at home in the Toy Group. MIN PUPPY - Dog |

| 1st | TAMERON MR KENZO (MISS H L HOWARD) I've liked this dog since I saw him as a raw puppy. My ideal size and conformation. Heavy and low to ground with super body, deep chest and good bone. Beautiful head with the true Oriental expression. Large dark eyes and good mouth. Well set tail which he carried correctly. Good angulation which showed in his sound movement. Well handled and presented. Dog CC and BOB. I was pleased to later see him go through to the final 4 for BIS. |
