It was a great pleasure to be asked to judge the dogs at the Shih Tzu club of SW & WC, and i thank everyone who entered their dogs. I do know that nearly every judge has a dig at what in their opinion are issues that should be addressed by you the caretakers of our super little breed, well I am sorry to disappoint you , but i am no exception. For me three extremely important things are strength of under jaw, essential for the shape of head and expression that the standard requires, quite a few lacking here, secondly a good barrel chest and laid back shoulder, and last but certainly not least, movement when viewed from the rear should have the kickup so the pads can be seen, this is what sets the Shih Tzu apart from other breeds. Such a lot of bad rear movement, when watching some dogs move it looked as if both feet were landing in the same place. Only you as breeders can go forward to rectify what in your opinion is a good Shih Tzu, and i wish you well in your endeavours.

1st Tameron Mr Eternity Overall a nice puppy, good head and expression, well placed tail with good carriage, sound on the move.
2nd Yakee Diamond Geezer at Santosha Very similar type to the first and looked good when “stacked up”. Close thing between these two, both very well handled.

1st Shantrionna Seventh Heaven Very happy to put this through as best puppy. Movement just what I was looking for. Well balanced with good reach of neck, tail set and carriage, broad head, dark eye, strong under jaw, lovely expression. Full of confidence in the big ring.
2nd Mifacah's Out Of Confusion at Chaucer Larger type to first, liked the head, tail set a little disappointing.

1st Penliza Pickpocket Pleasure to go over, good barrel of chest, nice head, overall appearance pleasing to my eye. I did feel that handler was not getting full potential from this dog. Tip! Place a full length mirror on an outside wall and practice.
2nd Popeye Is Quick On The Trigger At Huxlor Another good dog with a typical head and expression, liked him on the move.

1st Weatsom Pole Position What a lovely little parcel this dog is, the size I'm more used to seeing, with a head to my liking, large dark eye with a strong under jaw, well placed ear and broad skull. Topline and tailset correct and looked good moving. My reserve cc only beaten by maturity.
2nd Chanikos To Catch A Dream for Ethelsmead Gold/white, liked expression, tail carriage and topline, needs to body up.
