It is nearly three years since I last judged Shih Tzus & I was surprised to find that the comments I wrote then match my general observations this time. While heads & mouths are good, this appears to be at the expense of basic, sound conformation. The Standard calls for shoulders to be ‘well laid back’ & for the chest to be ‘deep & broad’, this was sadly lacking in many exhibits. Thighs should be ‘well rounded & muscular’, please do not sacrifice muscle for the sake of coat. Having said this, there were many beautiful, typical Shih Tzus here.
