My decisions were made for what I personally think is most important in a Shih Tzu & that is conformation, soundness, balance & style, as against cosmetic features. If however added to that you can get a wonderful head & expression then you have hit the jackpot. As an example I will forgive the teeth not in a straight line as long as the jaw is broad, I love a high tailset but not from a rising topline. In other words I weigh up the attributes & don’t fault judge, because there is not a dog yet born that is perfect. Conformation shows movement, if they are built right they will move right & I feel that now when keeping a puppy for show a lot of exhibitors choose a pretty head in preference to conformation, soundness & balance. Some judges think of the Shih Tzu as a ‘head’ breed, is this why we are losing our beautiful unique movement, food for thought. MINOR PUPPY - Dog |

| 1st | SYMARAJU TRIGGER A TORNADO AT BISHBOW (MR D & MRS J BOWNS) super young boy, what a head, the real old fashioned type, I haven’t seen such a lovely head for ages, one to die for, lovely expressive darkest of eyes, wide apart, correct up tilted nose, wide strong jaw, nice bite, well placed, so many are too high on the skull, well boned, good layback of shoulder, deep well sprung ribcage of good length, his whole construction was what I was looking for. Would not want him any bigger. Beautifully balanced with a correct high tailset rising from a correct level back, moved with drive. Over exuberant at times but he is only young & full of himself.
