A thank you to the committee for the invitation
to judge this very pleasant of Scottish shows, also the exhibitors for making
the now rather expensive journey. I would like to register several concerns
regarding our breed. Where has the barrel body gone? It’s very hard to find,
very few level toplines, I was also looking for front extension now sadly
lacking. Poor dentition and eye white seems to have increased since I last
judged. A number of heads are still too small and not typical. The KC standard
states head broad, muzzle of ample width. These features cannot fit into a small
head. Having said all that I found what I was looking for in my winners.

Strong hindquarters. Very sound on the move keeping his topline. In profuse coat. Not a glamorous dog. Can so easily be overlooked these days. Has all the attributes of the breed type. Pleased to award him CC. |
