I would like to thank the committee for the invitation to judge their show. I have always felt a connection with the Club having been the Chairman in the early days of its foundation. Thanks also to my two efficient stewards, Laura Young and Jenny Quick, for keeping things moving smoothly. I found the bitch entry generally of a good high quality, but we still have a lot of different types appearing in the breed. Please look at the overall dog you are breeding and do not be biased with particular points. Shih Tzus are a wonderful breed who should be holding their own in the Utility group, despite their smaller size. Outline, balance and good free movement must come first in both show dogs and pets. In criticism I found several bitches with Lhasa type bodies. Much too high on the leg and with very little angulation behind leading to untypical Shih Tzu hind movement. Sadly, I also noticed several unsound bitches on the day. My class winners were of a very high quality indeed with some exciting youngsters waiting in the wings.

VB (4) A lovely class of oldies
1. Mirazian Nokkia Socks Off - Devine Gold and white, 7-years, feminine type of bitch with a good spring of rib and a good firm body, lovely head and expression and dark eyes, showed well.
2. Shifon Mimsie - Newton 11-years, black and white in wonderful condition for her age, she had more muscle than many of my younger exhibits, she moved soundly and still has her topline and balance and also a full set of teeth.
3. Superlion Eastend Girl at Carlita - Jones & Harp
4. Sarosim Triggers Pride - Brook

MPB
1. Pekoe Seal Of Approval - Carlton A mature gold and white girl, 7-months, well balanced with a pretty head and expression and a lovely dark eye, presented beautifully and moved soundly with confidence.
2. Matsonic Designed By Jay Jay - Ace Also gold and white and 7-months, this bitch had a wonderful head, very wide with a melting expression, well balanced, moved with confidence, just needs a little more time and experience to settle, good strong body with a lovely high tail set.
3. Maitreya Calypso - Barron
4. Daltricia Zemelo - Maule
5. Minfaa Midnight Rose at Bellwaycharm - Bell & Turrell

PB
1. Jenade Pushing Daisies - Lees  A black and white, 11-month girl, very mature in body, lovely spring of rib, a good reach of neck and level topline, a well balanced girl who moved freely and correctly.
2. Paliden Shining Gold - Williams  A solid gold of the old type, this colour is hard to get right, another well balanced bitch of a nice size, good level topline and reach of neck, needs to settle a little in movement but very sound, shown in super coat of the correct quality.
3. Chanikos Dream A Little Dream - Spooner
4. Surianne MZ Tameca China Cup - Gettings
5. Chanikos Still In A Dream at Ethelsmead - Rutter

JB (11,2) These classes just got better. Let's hope this is a good sign for the breed.
1. Weatsom Always On My Mind - Stangeland Black and white bitch, very mature in body, lovely spring of rib, stood and moved with such a good balanced outline, super width of head and mouth and a good dark eye, level topline and correct tailset.
2. Matsuba Ym Divine - Russell & Evans First and second in this class were very much alike in type, which was not surprising when I read the breeding afterwards. Another lovely black and white bitch with heavy bone for her size, good head and expression, moved and showed with confidence.
3. Minfaa Lets Rock & Roll at Middletune - Yorke
4. Tanibet Lively Lassie - Podd
5. Matsonic Diamond In The Dark at Bellwaycharm - Bell & Turrell

NB
1. Paliden Shining Gold - Williams

5. Zuthis Look I'm Here of Shirmin - Moore

PGB
1. Hinchens Portrait Of Perfection at Centastage - MacDonald Black and white bitch of a good size, lovely heavy bone, excellent spring of rib, good natural balance both moving and standing, super head and expression with a wide mouth and skull, very typical of her sire who I judged in Finland a couple of years ago
2. Marhilway Double Edge - Diffey Another young bitch of quality, good heavy bone and well muscled body, lovely tailset and broad head with dark eyes and a lovely expression
3. Debshores Giggle and a Wiggle - Gracey
4. Maitreyas Temptress - Barron
5. Ethelsmead Tinker Taylor - Rutter

LB
1. Sygar Looking For Gold - Gray  A gold and white bitch, truly feminine and for me a lovely size, well balanced at all times, her head and expression could not be bettered. Beautiful dark wide spaced eyes and a lovely mouth, a good, firm well muscled body with a level topline and high tail set to complete the picture. My CC winner and with my co-judge, Nigel Stevens, the BIS winner
2. Pekoe Fatal Attraction - Anderton Gold and white bitch I have watched and liked throughout her career. I was not disappointed in going over her, beautifully balanced body and a free flowing movement, finished with a lovely head and a level topline
3. Gladmin Shakia - Carter & Leigh
4. Hinchens Power of Love at Centastage - MacDonald
5. Thaisu Whole Lotta Love - Hatten

OB
1. Chelhama Leading Light - Goodwin Gold and white feminine bitch of a nice size for me, moved very soundly, good head and expression, good spring of rib, level topline and a correct tailset. My RCC winner
2. Cabbala Gilt Edged at Marhilway - Diffey Another quality feminine bitch and an old favourite of mine, she has a lovely spring of rib, a level topline and a high correctly set tail. This is how a Shih Tzu tail should be, pretty feminine head with a good, dark eye.
3. Venustus Jump For Joy - Merrett
4. Debeaux Ellagance of Debshore - Gracey
5. Mifcahs The B Is Back - Flack
